Ice Skating

On a romantic whim I bought tickets for the wife and I. The venue was the temporary rink outside the National History Museum. As expected I started off badly, then got worse, then slightly improved. The most noteworthy thing was my spectacular unnsteadiness. Other people are wobbly, yes, but I have the uncanny knack of randomly and quite sensationally going arse over tit. Can't wait for next time though.
By the way, all you single guys out there, go ice skating. You are guaranteed to crash into some giggling girlie at one stage or another; hilarity ensues, retire to the barrier, engage in delightful conversation, BINGO!

Sounds great - a chance to cop a feel

Sounds great - i love david cop a feel d

Do people travel clockwise or anticlockwise at the Natural History Museum one? I went to the Tower of London rink and to my disappointment the motion was anti (my least favorite).

Interesting! It was anti at the Natural History Museum too. I suppose it favours the right-footed, perhaps? Think I might be going again soon - I'll try and buck the trend!

Be careful going against the grain: I attempted reversing the flow but the momentum was too great by the time I got on the ice that I was pushed into anti-clockwiseism. Next time you skate I propose the following: Get your skates on (arf arf) and be the first on the ice in your time-slot, begin skating clockwise and get those who join behind you to do the same. i.e. lead from the front! Incorporate shouts of 'clockwise is bestways!' etc. to get the crowd going, once the swarm builds up speed there'll be no stopping them and you can admire your work with a mulled wine.
