After an awkward first set, Andy came through his first round match in Adelaide, defeating the qualifier Paolo Lorenzi 3-6 6-0 6-2. He now faces Tomas Berdych (ranked 24) for the second time in his short career, having defeated him at Basel/Basle last year. The victor will potentially face world no. 4 Lleyton Hewitt in the next round.
