Gay Cowboy Movie

I can confirm that Brokeback Mountain is indeed beautiful and Ledger's performance is certainly "the stuff of Hollywood history". I was moved to tears several times and then a few more in the closing minutes for good measure. Yeah you heard me, I wept like a baby, but I ain't no queer.

Gervais Podcast Traffic

It's not cool or clever to talk about website traffic, but then, I'm deeply uncool and only slightly clever. After providing links to the early episodes of the Ricky Gervais podcast (with Steve Merchant and Karl Pilkington), I've been getting hit 500-or-so times a day due to my prominence on this Google search.

I hope you've found this announcement enlightening.

Antony and the Johnsons

As always I stuggled to produce a Christmas wish list for my nearest and dearest. In the end I asked for music that I wouldn't normally go for (Antony & the Js) or could be potentially horrific (Babyshambles).

I should tell you that Antony and the Johnsons' I am a Bird Now is lovely. Being an open-minded chap, I managed to tolerate Antony's constant warbling for a few minutes and before I knew it I was hooked. The first three tracks give me a weird sense of elation.

Intel Macs - Apple MacBook & iMac

Jobs said, "Let there be Intel Macs," and there were Intel Macs.

MacBooks and iMacs to be precise.

And the ad.

Andy Murray meets Ancic in Auckland

Murray saw off Kenneth Carlsen 7-5 6-2 in the first round on Monday and now faces the young Croat, Mario Ancic. Ranked 21, Ancic will present another tough challenge for Andy, but this match will be good practise for next week's Australian Open, regardless of the outcome.

It all kicks off around midnight British time.

Andy went out 3-6 6-7, but it sounds like he just failed to capitalise on several chances.

Andy Murray halted by Berdych in Adelaide

Andy lost 6-7 6-4 1-6 to Tomas Berdych this morning. Berdych is very much an "Andy Murray plus 18 months", so it was not an unexpected result and Andy actually felt positive about his performance.

Murray picks up 15 ranking points for his first round victory, but he will likely remain somewhere around 64th in the world.

Next up is Auckland, which begins on Monday (Jan 9th) and is his last tournament before the Australian Open. Check out the player list for Auckland.

Andy Murray beats Lorenzi in Adelaide

After an awkward first set, Andy came through his first round match in Adelaide, defeating the qualifier Paolo Lorenzi 3-6 6-0 6-2. He now faces Tomas Berdych (ranked 24) for the second time in his short career, having defeated him at Basel/Basle last year. The victor will potentially face world no. 4 Lleyton Hewitt in the next round.

The match will take place in the early hours of Thursday, British time.

Andy Murray Starts 2006 in Adelaide vs Lorenzi

Happy new year! I'm going to kick off 2006 with an update on Andy Murray (18-year-old Scottish tennis sensation). He's about to start the new season at the ATP tour event in Adelaide. Currently ranked 64, Andy will face an Italian, Paolo Lorenzi, ranked 252 in the first round. Expect it to begin at approximately 5am, British time on Tuesday.

If Andy progresses he will face Tomas Berdych, ranked 24, whom he actually beat last year on carpet at Basel/Basle, although Berdych finished 2005 with a fabulous victory at the Paris Masters event.

Beyond Berdych, Andy would likely meet Lleyton Hewitt. Go Andy!
